Students have the option of participating in every spirit day and it is optional. Report cards are going home tomorrow. Please read over the report card, sign the envelope and return the empty envelope. If you have any questions about the report card, please do not hesitate to ask Ms. Rothe for clarification. Students are advised to open their report cards at home when they are with their family, rather then at school. Today students went to the library together to sign out books for book clubs. We will be starting book clubs next week. Ask your child what book they will be reading during their book club. - There is no school this Friday. 🖤Ms. Rothe and Room 9 Students

Thorncliffe Waste

Image
Today Room 9 students were able to see the waste report from Thorncliffe School for the 2019-2020 school year thus far. We were able to calculate that each student fills up 1/8 of a large garbage bin of waste per month. We then did some calculations to figure out that that means there are 34 bins of waste produced per month if we have 276 students in our school. THAT'S A LOT OF WASTE. We are challenged by the CBE to reduce our waste by half. Some ways that we can do this is by using only the paper that we need, taking our trash from lunch home, always putting compost in the correct bin, bring a reusable water bottle rather than a single use plastic water bottle. Students have shown such an interest in water treatment plants. We watched this video to learn the process that happens to clean water. - Report Cards are going home on Wednesday. - Fancy Day is on Wednesday. - There is no school on Friday. 💝Ms. Rothe and Room 9 Students
